Mindset is a wearable concentration device which helps to maintain focus at work or while studying. It uses advanced EEG sensors to monitor brain activity and concentration levels. Guided by subtle audio cues, the user is encouraged to refocus or take a break when necessary. Thanks to neuroplasticity - the brain’s natural ability to rewire itself - the user can improve their focus and productivity over time.
Most existing devices using EEG technology are complicated, expensive and stigmatising. However, Mindset is designed to look and function like a pair of regular headphones, which are already commonplace in our daily lives.
Multiple sensor clusters are integrated into the padded headband for reliable EEG monitoring. Each rounded sensor tip is individually spring mounted to penetrate the hair and provide good contact with the scalp, without compromising on comfort. The wireless headphones can be used on the go or connected through a detachable USB-C or standard headphone cable. User feedback is provided through audio cues or more in-depth with the accompanying app.
Designed in close collaboration with Canadian start-up company Mindset in partnership with the HAX hardware accelerator programme. In addition to the industrial design, Office for Product Design also created the visual identity for the new brand as well as the product photography.
Mindset headphones successfully launched on Kickstarter and raised over US$ 1 million in presales.
