Racing Bicycle
‘Nazaré 2’ is an aero racing bike designed for NEILPRYDE Bikes. Constructed from ultra-high modulus carbon fibre, the bicycle combines light weight performance with carefully engineered aerodynamics.
The starting point for the project was the successful Nazaré model (previously called Alize), NEILPRYDE’s debut aero model. The aim was to build upon the learnings from that frame and create a bicycle with demonstrably improved aerodynamic performance, without increased weight or compromised strength. The resulting frame became more than an update, it became a radically new bike.
The Nazaré 2 frameset is a careful balance of elegantly sculpted form and absolute performance. Aesthetically the frame retains some of the DNA of NEILPRYDE Bikes initial products, but employs it in a more controlled and functional way. The subtle crease lines are a result of the use of KAMM tail sections, improving aerodynamic flow and reducing drag at most yaw angles. Other aspects such as the integrated fork, brake positions and flush-mounted seatpost clamp, are all studied to provide the optimal balance between performance and clean aesthetics.
This project is the result of a close collaboration between NEILPRYDE Bikes and Office for Product Design, employing a highly iterative design process with extensive aerodynamic testing and analysis together with a leading European F1 testing company.
